About

The Unreleased Hornet (2006) • Dodge first used the Hornet name on a concept car revealed in 2006. • This concept was envisioned as a mini MPV, a very different body style than the current SUV. • Planned to be Dodge's first foray into a smaller, more fuel-efficient segment, it was powered by a 1.6L supercharged engine for a sporty feel. • The 2008 financial crisis and subsequent restructuring of Chrysler led to the project's cancellation. The Hornet Takes Flight (2022-Present) • The Dodge Hornet name returned in 2022 for a brand new compact crossover SUV. • This SUV shares its platform and many components with the Alfa Romeo Tonale. • Dodge took the Tonale's design and adapted it for their brand aesthetic, including the signature "angry-looking" headlights. • The Hornet comes in two variants: the gasoline-powered GT and the plug-in hybrid R/T, both featuring standard all-wheel drive.
